Adventures of Flat Daniel with Mau

Daniel is my Nephew. He sent me "Flat Daniel" as sort of a gnome project. It was my duty to show Flat Daniel a good time, then pass him on to somebody else in the world. Here he goes.

LA Marathon

Flat Daniel then dragged me to the 21st annual Los Angeles Marathon. This is where people run for 26.2 miles to mimic the legendary run of a messenger named Phidippides. He ran from the city of Marathon to Athens, in 490 BC, to alert everyone of the Athenian defeat of the Persians. When he arrived he shouted "NENIKIKAMEN" which means, "we were victorious!". Then he died.

The runners of the LA marathon do not mimic this last part. Instead they wrap themselves in plastic wrap, get a gold medal, and eat free power bars and drink gatorade. Flat Daniel thinks Phidippides got the short end of the stick. Mau agrees.
